Keyword searches and wildcards
All the searches described below include a keyword or phrase search function. This can be helpful when you are looking for a case, activity, issue or document and you don’t know the exact term.
When entering your search terms:
*Search matches the words that start with the search term you entered. For example, searching for Joh will match John, Johnson and Johannes.
*To find text appearing anywhere in a word use the wildcard symbol *. For example, searching for *son will match Johnson, Wilson, Jackson and Parson, while J*son will match Jason, Jacobson and Johansson.
*To find text when you aren’t sure of the spelling use the wildcard symbol ~. For example, John~ will also return Jon.
*To search for a key phrase enclose the text in double quotes. For example, a document search for “Letter from GP” will return all documents containing that key phrase in either the title or description
