Activities are always associated with a case record. Activities distinguish between:
*Direct time covering work done with a client in person or over the phone
*Indirect time covering work done on behalf of a client (including travel).

The foundation does not value direct time more than indirect time – they’re both valuable. The reason for the distinction is to help us to understand the client experience of the Gambler’s Help service and appreciate the work done behind the scenes to provide that service.
When you record an activity you specify an activity type and sub-type. The table below lists the activity types and sub-types you can use.
Activity type
Activity sub-type
Client activities record work done with the client in person or on the phone.
These activities will always include a component of direct and indirect time.
o Practitioner Client Services
Case activities record work done without the client present.
These activities should only record indirect time.
o Practitioner Case Work
Anonymous activities record work done on anonymous cases.
These activities should never include direct time.
o Practitioner Anonymous Intervention
Group session activities:
o Session
o Preparation
o Administrative
Note: Group session activity types don’t have sub-types. Preparation is used to account for time setting up a group program. Administration is used to account for time managing a program, for example, sending invitations.
Where you have to travel in the course of any of these activity types you enter your travel time as a separate item.
All activities include a timesheet where you record your direct, indirect and travel time. This displays when you mark an activity as completed.
